Murphy Park - Phase II & III
St. Louis, Missouri

As part of the ongoing revitalization of downtown St. Louis, Phase II of the Murphy Park development consists of 127 units of garden apartments and townhouses located in 34 buildings on three separate property parcels. The two story townhouses have kitchen, dining, and living room spaces with two or three bedrooms upstairs. The garden apartments are two and three bedroom units clustered together in two story buildings connected by common breezeways.

After completing Phase II of this development, Altman-Charter was hired to build the Phase III for McCormack Barron Salazar, a nationwide firm known for its affordable housing and market-driven residential projects in urban areas. The project is scattered on 9 different parcels and includes 126 units in 36 different buildings. It is comprised of townhomes and apartment style layouts, dubbed as “garden units”.

Funded with the use of Missouri Housing Development Commission tax credits, the development provides affordable housing for working families in the downtown area. Brick and siding were used to match the classic urban exterior architecture often found in St. Louis city. Other design features include tiered gabled roofs, awnings with supporting columns and windowed dormers.
