With a successful senior’s community already in place, a skilled nursing facility was the only component missing from Lutheran Senior Services Hidden Lake CCRC development. With less than an acre of undeveloped space on their 10 acre campus, LSS acquired enough adjoining land to provide a 1.5 acre SNF tract. During the process of replanting and rezoning the site, LSS acquired the right to transfer 67 licensed SNF beds to their Hidden Lake campus. The “L” shaped parcel at the front door of the community presented several unique design challenges. After evaluating several options for both initial cost and operational efficiencies, a two-story scheme was selected, placing dementia beds on the first floor. Although some sharing of staff and facilities is planned within the development, the new facility meets all requirements for a stand-alone fully licensed SNF.
