| The company was formed in 1985 when J.J. Altman (general contractors in Southern Illinois since 1937) joined with Charter Construction, Inc. (a leader in the construction industry in St. Louis for over 25 years). Altman-Charter has extensive experience in senior living & senior care construction, with more than 8,000 units developed since our founding in 1969. We have served senior living and senior care clients throughout the mid-west and our completed project portfolio includes skilled nursing facilities, households, assisted living facilities, dementia units, congregate apartments, patio homes and villas, affordable housing for seniors and full continuum of care campuses.
